Manguni

Manguni (Otus manadensis) is the source of wisdom for the people of North Sulawesi. Wisdoms come from the bird's call. There are nine patterns of calls and each pattern has a meaning.
  • Short, repeated not so many and short pause in between "ooot": time for gardening, planting, it is going to be a good day tomorrow
  • Medium length, repeated not so many, very close "ooooot": a thief is on action.
  • Long, relatively near, repeated and long pause in between "oooooooot": some one is going to be in trouble (getting sick or accident) in the neighborhood.
  • Long, sad, repeated and long pause in between "oooooooot": some one is going to die in the neighborhood.
  • Medium length ooooot and call from many different points: bad weather for tomorrow.
  • Four more to come.
